Law Enforcers Ending FGM & Abuse

Law enforcers at village to district level are crucial in ensuring the law is maintained and fully understood by all members of the community. They are also required to make sure that all community members have access to justice. In workshops, law enforcers emphasize their role and responsibility to protect women and girls, as well as to punish perpetrators of FGM and child marriage.

NAFGEM has trained the police and magistrates, village and district executive officers and other civil servants from the district education, health and community development departments. As a result of this training and NAFGEM's advocacy for more services, Police Gender Desks have been established at regional and district levels.

NAFGEM works in collaboration with these desks to ensure that women and children receive prompt and appropriate services and also to help facilitate an expansion of these desks to more remote areas.
